Patricia H. Birdsall Sports Park, Temecula, CA

As the softball teams gets stronger in southern California, so do the fields it seems like it. The first park we played at:

Patricia H. Birdsall Sports Park

32380 Deer Hollow Way Temecula CA 92592 (about 45 mins from San Diego), the field was so picture perfect.  There were lighted Softball fields, soccer fields, basketball courts.  4 for each sport.  The parking lot could accommodate about 460 vehicles.  Anywhere you turned it was very green and well maintained.  When we visited the park in October, the weather was really nice with occasional sprinkles.  Was in the 80’s most of the time.  But from what I hear, it could get really hot in the summer.

The park had 4 different softball fields all back to back in a 4 leaf clover pattern, so kids didn’t have to lug their bags too far from one game to the next.  The dugouts for the kids had shade to protect the kids from direct sunlight during hot days.  The seating for parents extended from 1st base to 3rd base dugouts in order to cover both teams.  The seating was concrete steps that were wide enough to walk in front of the people seated.

If you are traveling from out-of-town or forgot to bring your chair then you are in a bit of trouble if your tush is used to soft seating.  If you travel by air to reach your destination then you may want to invest in Exped Air Pillow

It is very light weight and you can use it as a pillow during flight as well as a seat cushion at the field.  And it inflates and deflates really quickly and fits in the palm of your hands so it doesn’t take too much space in your suitcase.

In case you are wondering, this is a public park and so dogs are allowed.  No entry fee to enter into the facility.

They had a pretty decent snack shack called “The Shortstop”.  The chicken tenders are enormous.  One order was good for 2 to 3 people.  Here is the menu.

Would love to hear from you :-)
